Kiwa helps Portugal convert to 100% H2

This autumn Kiwa has started two new projects in Portugal for two Portuguese gas district system operators: H2REN for REN Portgás and Retrofit for Floene. In commission of these two operators, Kiwa will assess the suitability of their gas distribution networks for hydrogen. 

Update to RHI Regulations

The government has adjusted the 2021 RHI Regulation regarding the Renewable Heat Incentive Scheme. This adjustment is made in the UK Statutory Instrument 2022 No. 1096, The Renewable Heat Incentive Scheme (Amendment) Regulations 2022.

UKCA - Latest Update

On 14 November 2022 BEIS announced some further changes to the UKCA deadlines which were originally amended on 20 June 2022. The following updates were announced:

20% Blended Hydrogen Mark

Kiwa is delighted to announce the launch of a new voluntary 20% Hydrogen Mark, based on its Test Requirements for natural gas appliances burning up to 20% Hydrogen admixture, using EN15502 as the reference standard.

SMR Launch

The Kiwa Energy team had reason to celebrate following the commissioning of our local hydrogen production plant and labs. This involved Hydrogen flowing down the pipes for the first time from our Steam Methane Reformer (SMR) to our new hydrogen lab. We invited a number of influential people in the industry to join us at our offices in Cheltenham on 8 September and have a tour of the SMR.

New Hydrogen Course

We are pleased to announce our first 1-day, Hydrogen awareness course for Gas Installers, here at Kiwa in Cheltenham on Thursday, 13th October.

Kiwa present at Gastech exhibition

Kiwa’s team of experts is attending the Gastech exhibition and conference from 5 – 8 September. We will present our wide range of services at the single largest global meeting place for the natural gas, LNG, hydrogen and low carbon-solutions.

UKCA Marking Government guidance

The Government announced changes to UKCA marking for products on 20th June. Here at Kiwa we are currently analysing the new guidance to fully understand the implications for manufacturers. We will update our website as soon as we have confirmed our interpretation.

Kiwa is delighted to be working in a consortium led by BRE on improving the measurement of energy performance of UK homes, and developing the methodology to be more suited to heat pumps, renewables and smart tech.
