Hydrogen fuel cell testing

Hydrogen

Hydrogen offers interesting possibilities for the energy transition. It is a promising alternative to natural gas, with numerous applications. In vehicles, using hydrogen instead of fossil fuels enables emission-free transport. Hydrogen can also play a role in the decarbonization of the industry: reducing CO₂ emissions through cleaner industrial processes.
The transition to hydrogen involves many aspects, such as technical development, economic feasibility and safety. In our advanced test lab, we make this concrete with technical assistance, testing, inspection and certification of hydrogen chain solutions.

The quality of hydrogen

What quality requirements are set for the application of hydrogen? And how can these requirements be verified? In our whitepaper, you will discover everything about the quality of hydrogen.

Experience hydrogen in our Hydrogen Experience Center

Kiwa, in collaboration with Dutch network company Alliander, has built the first hydrogen demo house in the Netherlands. This Hydrogen Experience Centre, located at Kiwa’s premises in Apeldoorn, is a test and demo location set up as a residential house, where everyone can experience how hydrogen works in practice. It is also used as a training location for technicians and installers.

Safe, certified and future-proof: how Kiwa supports the development of hydrogen components

The use of hydrogen as a sustainable energy carrier is growing rapidly, particularly in mobility and storage applications. For manufacturers of hydrogen tanks and components, this means an increasing need to comply with complex and diverse standards, ranging from automotive regulations to international transport legislation. Kiwa supports this development with a complete package of testing and certification services.

Testing hydrogen tanks: ensuring safety, quality and reliability

Hydrogen is playing an increasingly important role as a sustainable energy carrier, both for vehicles and for stationary applications and transport storage. The storage tank is a crucial component: without a safe, reliable and leak-tight cylinder, the safe use of hydrogen is simply not possible. What does it take to test hydrogen tanks and components? And how do we ensure that only products of proven quality and safety reach the market?

Green gas: A circular opportunity for water boards

Water boards treat vast amounts of wastewater daily, leaving behind sewage sludge. This sludge presents an opportunity to contribute to the energy transition by digesting it into biogas, which can then be upgraded to green gas. By doing so, water boards can make their energy supply more sustainable and play a circular role in the energy market.
